🍰 Is It Cake?

Mind The Beet: Mostly career and parenting stories, with occasional cake photos.

OK - let’s fact drop:

1. It was Helen’s 40th birthday this past weekend!

2. Helen’s picked up baking in a serious way these past two years.

3. Our family loves the Netflix TV show: Is It Cake? where cake artists compete to create hyper-realistic cake creations that fool celebrity judges into thinking that the cake is a real object.

It was therefore a real joy to work with Carla from Honey Crumb Cake Studio as she created a realistic cake for Helen’s birthday party this past weekend:

The knobs and dials could be turned and spun. The cake overall fed 50 people.

We chose their almond raspberry cake filling - it was delicious!

We even turned it into a mini-competition where the kids at the party had to pick out which kitchen-themed objects were real and which were cake. It’s hard to see from this photo, but the Instapot is filled with chocolate frosting to hopefully create a good decoy (and a rich target for wayward fingers).

We’ll return next week with our more traditional posts on parenting, career, and life. But for now, pictures of awesome desserts will have to fill up your Mind The Beet cup!
