Launching: Mind the Beet Coaching and Advising
Helen's next career move - new business and becoming a solopreneur
๐๐ป Helen here with our weekly installment and an announcement!
After having a much-needed sabbatical, I decided to launch my own executive coaching and product advising practice.
How did I get here?
As I live my life with intention and purpose, I reflected that at this point in my professional career, three things are most important to me right now:
Spending time on things I love and getting compensated for them - helping people be the best they can be (coaching), and supporting others to build great product teams by sharing my experience (advising)
Putting my expertise to work - Iโm good at the people and the product stuff. Over the last twenty years, Iโve built products and teams, supported countless career transitioners (being one myself), led manager mentor circles, coached moms returning to work as well as aspiring and new managers, as well as leaders in organizations, looking to maximize their impact. I have been a manager at a mega-corp as well as a leader at a late-stage start-up and have written countless articles about my learnings over the years.
Continuing to learn - I need to stay challenged and engaged. Starting my own business and deepening my coaching practice are exciting new ways to grow.
I would also be remiss to say that being in tech is a weird time. I have no doubt that I could go out and get a full-time corporate job right now if I wanted to, but I am sure that I would need to compromise on the very things that are most important to me.
I am grateful for the tremendous support that I have received from Adam while pursuing this journey. Especially in todayโs uncertain times, I do not take the space and ability to do that for granted.
Impact of coaching
I have been fortunate to work with various executive coaches who have supported me throughout my career. This experience has enhanced my self-awareness and helped me grow as a leader and as a person. While pursuing my coaching certification through theย Hudson Institute of Coachingย to expand my skills, I have reaffirmed my strong belief that effective coaching leads to long-term, sustainable change.
From an organizational standpoint, by taking a systems-based approach, coaching addresses both individual behavior and organizational dynamics, resulting in sustainable change, improved team performance, and stronger alignment across the business. Leaders become better equipped to handle complexity, hold tension, and influence outcomes with clarity and courage, ultimately enhancing overall organizational effectiveness.1
What will my focus be?
Executive and leadership coaching - navigating career transitions in matrixed organizations, elevating executive presence, and managing time effectively via 1:1 support.
Reach out if you know someone who is: mid or advanced in career and is new to a large organization, is returning into the workforce after parental leave or a layoff, or is struggling to make the most impact during ambiguous times.
Product advising + coaching services - setting up repeatable and scalable product management processes, hiring the right team, building strategic roadmaps, and evolving your organization to thrive in the era of AI.
Reach out if you or a leader you know is setting up your first product team in the era of AI and thinking about the skill sets you need to hire for and the repeatable and scalable systems you need to put into place.
Front-line manager coaching - workshops, mentor circles, and 1:1 coaching support
Reach out if you know someone aspiring to be a manager or have recently become one and are seeking support in transitioning to this new role and setting up their first team for success.
How can you help?
The business I am entering is one based on referrals and relationships. If you or someone you know is looking for a thought partner, coach, or advisor - Iโd be honored to support the next chapter of your journey. Check out all the details here.
Additionally, I am hosting a talk for first-time managers. This is a topic near and dear to my heart because I have seen firsthand that there is not enough support for emerging leaders in organizations, and Iโd like to help.
If you are interested, I hope youโll consider attending and sharing the opportunity with those in your network. The link to the event is here.
As always, thank you for being a part of Mind the Beet community, and I look forward to continuing to share my journey with you.
